TPI Introduces Regional Managers
09/03/2008 - Travel Professionals International

WINNIPEG, CANADA – Travel Professionals International (TPI), Canada’s largest network of home-based travel agents, welcomes Penny Martin and Christal Bauer to the newly created regional manager positions. Respectively, Martin will assume the role of TPI’s Eastern Canada Regional Manager, and Bauer will assume the role of TPI’s Western Canada Regional Manager, effective Monday, 8 September 2008.

Martin comes to TPI with thirty years of travel-industry experience, including managerial positions at CAA and Sears Travel, respectively, and her most recent posting as Director of Product and Industry Relations for Transat Distribution Canada Inc. She holds a Travel Counselor Diploma from the Canadian Management Institute and a Certified Travel Manager (CTM) accreditation from the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (CITC), among other designations.

“I'm thrilled to be part of Canada's largest network of home-based travel agents,” exclaimed Martin, upon accepting the position. “I look forward to sharing my many years of travel industry experience with the TPI agents as I’m so excited about helping them grow their businesses.”

Bauer brings over twenty years of experience in the travel industry to TPI. Most recently, she held the position of National Business Development Manager – Canada with Ensemble Travel Group. Prior to Ensemble, Bauer held positions within Thomas Cook Canada, Uniglobe Travel, and the Tourism Training Institute, respectively. Bauer holds a Bachelors of Science in Management degree from California State University.

"I am excited to accept the opportunity to join such a progressive, growing company. I truly believe TPI's business model represents a positive future for the retail travel agent in Canada. In an industry of constant change TPI offers home-based agents a solid support system,” said Bauer. “I am looking forward to bringing my experience in training, technology, marketing and creative product ideas to this powerful network of agents."

As part of TPI’s strategic plan, the regional managers will assist the existing Associate Development Manager (ADM) regional network in coordinating, communicating, and delivering initiatives undertaken by TPI in order to help Associates grow their client base and increase travel sales.

“We are excited to welcome Penny and Christal to TPI's growing team. Their immense experience in marketing, sales, and training within the travel industry is a great asset to our company,” said Melanie Carter, TPI’s National Marketing Manager and supervisor of the regional manager positions. “At TPI, we are committed to helping independent travel agents grow their businesses - both Christal and Penny have the expertise to help them reach their goals.”
