IAS Brings Together National Team to Celebrate, Strategize
01/01/2011 - Independent Agency Services

WINNIPEG, CANADA – Independent Agency Services Corp. (IAS), home to Travel Professionals International (TPI), Canada’s largest network of independent travel consultants, brought together its national staff team from across Canada for its 2011 IAS Annual Staff Meeting, 7 January 2011, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to celebrate the year that was and plan for the year ahead.

With forty of its team members in attendance from across the spectrum of its units, Phil Sproul, IAS President, led a morning of presentations and discussions related to the current state of the travel industry and how IAS plans to strengthen its business units over the next several months through a focus on operational excellence.

“With the continually evolving face of distribution in the travel industry, we need to constantly challenge ourselves – our systems and our products – to meet both the current and future needs of our company,” explained Sproul.

Outlining the key areas affecting today’s travel industry landscape as economic recovery, consolidation, vertical integration, and overcapacity, Sproul and the management teams of each IAS business unit led discussions on how to stay ahead in these areas by increasing operational efficiency, sales, and staff and customer satisfaction while producing innovative programs and focusing on decreasing operational costs.

Amidst the current recovery of much of the travel industry and economy at large, Sproul iterated IAS’s continued success, noting that year-over-year fiscal travel product sales and commissions were up 26% and 25%, respectively, for the five month period ended 31 December 2010, with the majority of the increases coming from travel product sales originating in Ontario and Atlantic Canada. While traditional ITC travel continues to make up the largest share of travel product sales, FIT and cruise travel products continue to see the most dramatic increases.
